Voltage leak
#1
Hey Tiara world!

Ned some help, I discovered that I have a voltage leak to a unique place.  The foil insulation on the mid Bulkhead of the engine compartment of my 93 31 open is reading 12+ V when metered to the engine as a ground.  I think I've isolated it to a one of the main buses, because it read with all sub systems off.

Any ideas or thoughts?  Battery charger is my prime target, but any other ideas would be helpful in trying to isolate this issues!

If you have opened all the breakers and still show voltage I would next pull the primary +12v lead off each battery bank to try and isolate the short. Then would work backwards disconnecting the charge wire from the affected bank, etc. I would also look behind the disconnect / distribution panel to see of some foil has come in contact with a 12v lead.

Obviously you have a serious potential fire hazard. I wouldn't leave the boat with the batteries connected and would even consider using an ohm meter to neck the problem down as opposed to a volt meter.

Good luck and let us know what you find
