I have a 2002 4100 and it has a 50 amp shore power connection in the anchor locker on the bow. I plugged it in and it doesn't work. The vessel also has the 50 amp retractable cord in the cockpit area and that works. Does anyone know if there is a selector switch on this vessel to change between the two 50 amp connectors?

I have never seen a 50 amp outlet installed in an anchor locker on any Tiara .
Probably done by an owner who bowed in his boat into the slip .
I would try to trace the power cable back thru the boat to the engine room .
There might be a fuse box on the run .

Not sure if your boat is similar to my 38 Open but in the main electric panel I have circuit breakers (2) for each of the 3 power sources. One if I want to select the Generator as the source, a second for shore power 1 (30 amp shore power), and the third for shore power 2 (50 amp 250 volt shore power).. Only one pair of breakers can be selected at at time as there are slides on top of the breakers that prevent more than one being selected at one time.. Is it possible you have a similar setup that includes selecting the source as the connector in the anchor locker.... M2C

It looks to be factory installed. Reel Magic, I have the same panel but there's nothing on it for (2) 50 amps. As Deck Hand suggested, I'll attempt to trace the wires from the bow. Thanks!

Did you contact Tiara via Customer Relations.. They have always been ready willing and able to assist such issues... Given them a call or send an E-Mail... Here's a link: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
I have the same 50a (and 30) in the bow locker and it iwas a Tiara option at the time for the 52 (not sure about the 41). I responded to a post in the fall regarding this same topic. Trace the wire back and you will most likely find an automatic transfer switch probably in the ER of behind distribution panel. If someone did an aftermarket install it would still need either a manual or automatic switch or safety locked breakers.
Reel Magic has the right suggestion. Check with Tiara and you will most likely save a lot of time. They should be able to send you a schematic and tell you where to find the switch.

Would strongly recommend disabling all AC sources (shore power, inverter, generator) before opening anything up or tracing wires.
If you don't get a message back try emailing Brian Kane at bkane@tiarayachts.com. He is a great source of information and also a go to for parts. Include hull number.

I heard from TY today. The vessel has an automatic selector switch in the engine room. It's apparently not working and they no longer manufacture them.

I would suggest you to see if there is a manual override. Another option is to replace the automatic switch with a manual selector switch capable of caring at least 50 amp... Is repairing the automatic switch an option? M2C
