Hi - I'm about to close on a 1995 Tiara 31 Open. Very excited to acquire this vessel, which I am hoping will be the boat that will meet most of my expectations of boating. This will be my seventh boat and the one that I hope to use to introduce my grandchildren to the pleasures and excitement of the boating life. We will be docking it on the South Shore of Long Island and we are looking forward to many sun-filled days at the beach and fishing out of Fire Island inlet.
So I just wanted to say hello and hopefully, I will overcome my natural reticence and become a regular participant in the forum.

Welcome to the forum. You will find it quite good.. I currently own a 38' Open and previously owned a 1997 31 Open w/Crusaders... Its a great boat.. Did everything we wanted while we owned it... Traveled as far east/north as Gloucester including Newport, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Block Island and Montauk.... Also traveled to Canada via the Hudson & Lake Champlain to Montreal.... Took several southern trips to the Chesapeake including Annapolis, St Michael's and the Solomon's.... The 31 was great even w/6 Grand kids on board (didn't sleep all at once)... Now with the 38 we can take the same on overnights but they are much bigger (most are 16-21)... You will love the boat... Good Luck
Congratulations! I bought a 1995 31 Open 4 years ago. I never cease to be amazed by the boat's quality and longevity as well as the terrific support Tiara extends to all its customers - even those with a 24 or 25 year old boat. When I first bought the boat I needed a few parts to fix a leaking sink, and Tiara sent them without charge! How many companies provide that level of support for its older products?
Thanks for the warm welcome. I am saying goodbye to a Silverhawk 24 with a Yanmar I/O - a great fishing boat, but definitely not family and guest-friendly. Most of my boats have been fishing boats, but as I've done less fishing and more hanging out and cruising, I think that it is time to move on. During the sea trial, the Crusaders purred like kittens - I was pleasantly surprised and they have around 1000 hours. I am hoping that with proper care and attention I will get many more hours out of them.

I have an older 36 Open with Crusaders. Approximately 4100 hours on them. It had a valve job about 1500 hours ago. Just make sure you do all the maintenance on schedule, keep the motors cool, and annual oil changes, etc and they should last.
