I have a 2004 3100 LE Open and the marina who winterized her unhooked the batteries. I found this out after they delivered the boat to my building last week. Now I would like to get the hatch opened (to hook the batteries back up) but of course I have no power.
Is there an override or some other system in place? On a 3100 the batteries are going to be impossible to get to through the small hatch in between the motors.
Try this. Put the battery selector switches on, plug in shore power and turn on the battery charger. How did they disconnect the batteries and then close the hatch? Capt. George
How they did it was the first thing I thought too!
I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can find out.
I was going to plug in the shore power but was concerned it might cause an issue. I guess I'll shut off all the breakers and try it.
They had left a red plastic tag in the shore power plug/connector that the batteries are unhooked.
Interesting thing about all of this is in the Tiara manual that came with the boat (not really worth much) it states to winterize, disconnect and remove the batteries.
Yet no where does it give a clue how to pull this feat off!
I am think about stopping at the local zoo and kidnaping a trained Reese Monkey to perform such tasks!
Ha, had the same problem the first year I had my 98 31 Open. I want out and bought a battery jumper used to jump start a car with a dead battery. Just crawled in the day hatch and clipped the charger cables on the battery leads and worked perfect. You will need to figure out which battery the lift is led to, if I recall it is only one of the two engine batteries.
