No sure on the 42 WRT to priming as my 38 has a raw water pump but its located below the water line and doesn't require priming... Check to make sure the through Hull valve is open. I also have 2 switches, the first under the stairs on the main 12v power panel. A 2nd is in the cockpit that turns the pump on itself when pressure drops below ~40psi. Both need to be on for the pump to work... Internal to the pump, assuming it is the same or similar to mine, is a pressure switch which opens once pressure reaches pump pressure (~40psi). The pressure switch on mine stuck in the "OFF" state and prevented the pump from coming on.. I tapped the top of the switch and it stated to work... Yours may be stuck as well.. M2C
