I have a sun shade that came with the boat to cover the cockpit area. The stainless poles that came with it are bent pretty bad. I am thinking it is because the past owner was using them in the rod holders and forced them in the pretty good. I'm not sure exactly how the poles were supposed to be used. Does anyone have the sun shade for the cockpit of the Open model? Mine snaps to the front edge of the arch and has a pole in each corner and one in the middle, then it has straps on the corners that clip on to fitting installed right under the rub rail.
I need to replace the poles with something just not sure what. Has anyone else done this?
There are some carbon fiber pre-made ones out there for around $600, but not sure how the strength compares. The above mentioned ones made out of stainless are 375 out here.
Are you sure they are incorrectly bent? The gusy making ours asked if we needed a bend in ours -- I guess some need that. Using the rodholders should not be a problem that causes this. Good luck!
