Tiara Open Winterization & Maintenance Procedures - 38 Open
#1
Over the last 25+ years with Tiara's I've developed a series of procedures for maintenance, winterization & commissioning which may be of use to others on this site. Specifically developed for my 2003 38 Open w/Cummins 6CTA diesel engines they most likely apply to many other Tiara's. The procedures provide a guide to what I do for maintenance, winterization, and spring commissioning. I used and updated these procedures over the years and recently my son & grandson used them to verify they cover most if not all that is needed. Figured others on this site may be interested and/or have similar. Comments/concerns/better ideas are welcome. Use as you see fit.

This is really helpful -- thanks so much for sharing!

Quick question...why do you (and Tiara, I'll add) recommend blowing out lines with air before adding antifreeze? Why not just run antifreeze through all the freshwater lines and test it with a refractometer at the point of discharge? This would make the A/C units easier too (just use the pump to push antifreeze).

Glad to hear the procedures may help..I don't like using the "PINK" stuff at all in the fresh water (domestic) system as it leaves a smell in the water in the spring for quite awhile especially if you get it in the hot water tank. If its gets into the hot water tank the smell and sometimes pink color remain for a long period of time. As for the A/C units its something I just got use to doing. Could use the "PINK" stuff I'm sure as that isn't part of your fresh water domestic water system....I hook up my compressor to the dockside hookup hose connection which is easy for the domestic water system and at each A/C unit and blow backwards to the sea strainer. Overall its cheaper as well as I only need 2-3 gal. non-tox to do the A/C and Vac-u-Flush systems..... BTW in the spring I fill the holding tank from the deck pump-out fitting then empty the holding tank.... This to ensure the "PINK" stuff is flushed out of the holding tank before it is used. Found out head waste and the "PINK" stuff cause an odor at the holding tank vent till pumped....M2C
