I have a 2000 5200.  When running I am taking on 5-8 gallons of water an hour.  No obvious sources like shaft etc.  I am not taking on water when sitting at the dock.  It is sea water and not from the water tank.  I have looked and looked to try and find the source without any luck.  Needless to say when running it all ends up in the rear compartment under the garage but I have spent time down there while running and the source of the leak is not in that compartment but is coming from somewhere forward of that compartment.  Anybody got any ideas on where I should continue to look for the source?

Is there a hose that is loose or disconnected from one of the through-hulls on the sides of the boat that may be partially or fully submerged at speed (e.g., AC, sinks, cockpit drains, etc.)?

Definitely following this as I have the exact same symptoms on my 4000. Have searched everywhere and cannot find any source.

I have a 52 with the exact same problem. Checked rudder posts and even went so far as to put an inspection camera under the trunk to see if water was entering through a seam under the rub rail around the swim platform A fellow Tiara owner pointed me to the exhaust and darn if I didn’t find loose hose clamps on the rubber hoses that connect the muffler to the outboard fiberglass exhaust tubes in the engine room. I ended up checking all the connections to be sure. Boat is on the hard now and I will verify in the spring to be sure. But pretty confident that was my issue.

Are you out of Frankfort Mi? If so we have met and talked a few times. I was in slip 1 for part of this summer.

Check all of the lines running to your dripless shaft logs too. Remember water is always pumping through there too.

Holy loose exhaust clamps, Batman! I just checked the same to my underwater exhaust ports and almost all had vibrated to some state of not tight.

I too checked down there several times with the boat running, but never on plane. This would stand to reason why I didn’t see anything because I believe the underwater exhaust doesn’t kick in until you’re really moving. So checking at idle at the dock, of course I wouldn’t see it leaking there.

Lesson learned. I’ll bet anything that takes care of at least my problem. Hope it’s the same for you, jclark!

We had a similar water issue on our 2009 Tiara Sovran Where we had water coming in But only when the boat was under way. Turns out the sea strainer lid was not tight and at above 1200 PM would spray out like a garden hose with your thumb over the end of it. We tightened up the thumb screws and removed the shoulder bolt sleeve that prevent over tightening ( we are going to replace the seal to solve the problem and then replace the bolt sleeve) that solved the problem , now we are nice and dry without the bilge going off while underway every 3-5 min.  Good luck finding your leak.

Yes good to hear from you Joe.  We and the boat are back in Key West at this time.  

It happens in all sea conditions.  I noticed it while running the boat back down South this fall.

I have since identified the water problem to the port engine and that the leak happens anytime the engine is running.  Even when at the dock.  This may not be the sole problem for the water leak when running but I do know it is a problem.

I just replaced all the auto switches on the stern, mid and keil pumps.  I have spent hours laying on the batteries to get this water deal figured out but I still can not figure out where the water is coming from.   While staring at the kiel and mid pumps I can see water coming into the chamber but not where it is coming from.

FYI this same water is ending up in my cabin bilge once it builds up to a certain level.

I had a problem with the keil bilge picking up trash and had to place a filter on the pickup and at least now the keil pump and switch are operating dependability

 but operating every 10 minutes or so.

I am sorry that I don't visit the forum as often as I should.  Running the boat back to Ft Meyers in March and probably putting it up for sale.  One way or another it is not coming back to Michigan as long as I own it.
