I have a 1991 tiara 36 foot express and the helm is leaking. does anyone know who made the helm. I would like to send it for a rebuild and I need to know the model. thank you in advance.

Hydraulic steering oil loss is very dangerous and easy to fix. I lost my steering once, then fixed the problem and was struck by how easy it was. Check your model unit. Mine on a 1990 36 Open was Hy-Drive model 302. Incredibly well built unit but after 20 years the seals leak. The o-rings for that model are -214 and -218 (standard o-ring size designations) Buna-N o-rings, available from McMaster Carr or [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]. Or you can thank the company that made this fantastically rugged unit and order their "seal kit". It's something like $85. They are still in business, but don't sell too many new units due to the high price. Contact Bob @ HyDrive USA - 718 383 4968. Amazing fellow, that sort of rare breed who helps you in any way he possibly can. He's worked there for years and his love for these units shows. He will tell you how to disassemble the unit to inspect your o-rings.
