I have an 89' 3600 Convertible.   The aft AC compressor will cycle with the control panel off, fan stays off.  I have to use the breaker to stop it from cycling.  It works as needed when the setpoint is lower than cabin, but after reaching setpoint it will cycle, got concerned so shut off control panel and it still cycles.  The forward unit does not cycle like this.  It seems like nothing should happen with the control panel off.  Any insight how to troubleshoot/repair?

What manufacturer? My Domerics used to shut down and would seem to cycle on for a few minutes without the fan running and then start back up again. It was explained to me that it runs for awhile and can't lower the room temp to it set point and it thinks it is frozen up so it does some sort of defrost thing and turns back on. My A/C guy reprogrammed the A/C's and it hasn't been doing it since.
