I was told by previous owner there was not by my nose is telling after 3 years of owning this boat there is something going on. I am very good about using proper chemicals and do not let tank sit more than 2-3 weeks without being pump during the season. ny advice would be appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure what you are saying but I think it is that you smell sewage from your boat. Assuming that there is not a leak anywhere and that you have a Vacuflush system that uses fresh water, my experience is that it is best not to use any chemicals. I have had great luck with the Sealand vent line filters. They are kind of pricey (around $80 each) but are easy to install and one per season worked for me.

Agree with todc. What you are probably smelling is the fumes from the tanks vent. The sealand filters use activated charcoal to eliminate the smells. They will last a couple/few seasons, but as todc pointed out, a yearly $80 investment is well worth being able to use the aft deck while on the hook without having your eyes water-up!!

My 3800 did have a filter, and changing it was a noticeable help. One time the filter developed a small crack at one end at a threaded connection; it wasn't obvious but the odor was; changed the filter and life was good again.
