How old is the CO detector? I just had this on my boat with my units. Manual says they have a lifespan of 4-5 yrs, not exactly sure of the time but when they reach life expectancy the light turns red and emits a beep every 30 seconds. You can reset them to work for another 30 days or so but basically need new units, I have the Fireboy units. Hope this helps.

I replaced 2 of mine on my 2003 38 Open last year...Couldn't find any that plugged into the 12 volt system as the original ones so I purchase 2 first alert from Costco which have internal batteries good for 10 years...

DUMB QUESTION REEL MAGIC, so what did you do with the factory ones that are expired? how did you get them to stop beeping? i would like to get the factory ones but i dont know how to install? i couldnt find any wires?

i spoke with tiara, just like reel magic said, go buy sum from costco, my only question now is, if i snip the wires from the old carbon monoxide detecter do i mess up any of the wiring, not gonna short out anything am i?

When I installed the ones from COSTCO I just cut the 12 volt leads and put shrink wrap on each wire to ensure there was no possibly of a short

I had the same issue which I could not resolve nor could I find factory replacements so I disabled them and purchased battery operated detectors.

I went to Hodges Marine and bought a couple of replacements. Google Marine CO Detector and Safe T Alert. They are the same size but the wires come out in a different area so you will either have to reposition it over the wire hole and drill new mounting holes or use the old mounting holes and Redhill the power cable hole.

My two 20 year old CO2 detectors were disconnected when I bought my boat. When I plugged them back in, they went off and did not stop. I replaced them with Kiddie Smoke and CO2 combination detectors. I used one 12 volt wire to connect an LED reading light and the other for a USB charging port. All from Amazon for far less then the Fireboy CO2 detectors.
