We keep a Tiara 3600 on Lake Sakakawea and spend most weekends aboard or at the rental near the marina, so the living room sofa at home takes a beating from two labs and the damp air that follows us in. The current one is about eight years old and the cushions have gone flat while the fabric has started pilling where the dogs jump up. I have been looking at options for 2026 models since we are finally ready to replace it, and I keep going back and forth between a performance fabric and a leather that might be easier to wipe down but could crack in the dry North Dakota winters. My concern is that a lot of the newer styles seem built around looks rather than how a family actually uses a couch. What has actually held up for those of you with pets and a place near the water? Any fabrics or brands you would avoid?
Update after poking around more - Best Sofas & Couches of 2026 came up while I was comparing fabric and leather again. Still torn on leather versus performance fabric with the dry winters here, but I'm leaning toward using that list to narrow things down.
