Hello folks, hate to be a bummer here but i caught tiara on a bad build. I know i have an old boat (1983 continental twin 470 4 cyls) but i have allways heard about Tiara/Pursuits fit and finish. I had do do a little electrical work on my dash and when i went to remove the dash plate i found the factory cut the opening out so large that there were at the most 2 screws holding in each dash. No wonder i have electrical problems. There was no seal to the electronics. I also have crasing all over the top and spider webbing below the water line. Its like they hired rent a bums for a week to build my boat. Obviously the resin and gelcoat were not mixed correctly and i dont know how to explain the guy with the (un)skill saw. I bought this boat sight unseen because i thought this company made an outstanding product. I am going to try to fix the fiberglass and dashboard and hope there arent any more surprises.
You bought a 28 year old boat sight unseen and you're trying to blame the factory for bad workmanship? I am not denying that any mfg may have problems here and there but I'm not sure that some of the problems that you're seeing are not due to the (lack of) maintenance, DIY jobs etc of the previous owner(s). I get buying a boat sight unseen; we purchased our 2008 39 sovran sight unseen however I had an excellent surveyor whom I trusted implicitly to find any potential problems. Did you have your boat surveyed? These issues (at least the gel coat etc) would have likely been discovered at that point.
I hope that you can get your problems sorted out and get out on the water soon, I just wouldn't be so quick to blame the factory for things that may not have been their fault.
Hay you broke all the rules sight unseen no survey and got burned! Ouch I did the same thing with a Donzi I had to have,
and also got burned!
But you learn from the mistake and move on don't blame others or the boat.
Just to let you know I just purchased a very nice 31' Tiara open its a 1984 with out the trouble you have.

Despite all the wonderful things I have heard about these boats over the years, I got a survey done before buying mine, prompted frankly by my new marina's requirement for one. Found some blistering on the bottom of the hull, but I don't blame the factory-I blame the idiot who had the boat before me-bottom paint was almost nonexistent and the deck was not sealed properly. My dash was redone at least twice since it came out of the factory-spent two weeks correcting that nonsense. Any fiberglass boat over 20 years old is going to have spider-cracking-it is usually just in the gelcoat. Don't jump the gun and blame the factory-instead consider what previous owners might (or might not) have done. I spent four months undoing and correcting the abominations of the previous owner of my boat. This is nothing compared to my other boat, a 1969 Mako 19, which was raped by previous owners. Tiara makes a great product-agree with above posts that you always have to do your due diligence before buying, but primarily because of previous owners.
Although I agree sight unseens, no survey, ect is bad...there are questionable builds.
I have a 1983 3100 Convertible and the finish on interior is very inconsistant...nowhere near what the newer boats show. I think it was a different world back in 1983 for what was acceptable! I can tell you about horrible cut holes, molding that doesn't mitre or match very well, 3 different kinds of wood and finish all the same area (I know it's all original). So it does happen.
At the same time I agree that previous owners are harsh on boats. I do almost everything correct and I'm sure someone could call my quality into question.
I find it interesting that a marina requires a survey prior to belong, but I must be in a different world here in the Great Lakes. I know many marinas on the ocean have issues with poor quality boats being abandoned.
