I have a 1999 41 Open. After a long trip my AC water pump will not prime. I have to disconnect hose and run it and then reconnect to get it to prime. It works fine after short trips or once the lock is open. I have read several similar issues on this forum but have not found the cause or a solution (other than what I am doing) to the problem. Is there a fix? Could the pump be going bad?

Since the A/C pump is a displacement pump and NOT a pressure pump it requires water at the pump to work that is why you have to prime it... My guess is you have a small leak somewhere which allow the water to be sucked out when running. M2C
On my friends boat (non-Tiara), the scoop on his AC thru hull was installed backwards and when he would run on plane, would get an airlock in his AC line and would need to pull the hose and prime the pump every time he returned to the dock. Took a while to figure it out. Switched the scoop around during a haul out and the problem went away.
thanks, I will check the scoop. with regard to a small leak I cannot find leaking anywhere and no water in bilge. If I remove the pump exit hose and turn on pump it pumps right away. Will keep looking.
