I think I turned on the water heater with no water durring comissioning. So now I believe the element self destructed. 2001 38 open. Do I have to remove cable retrieval barrel for a repair. I can't see any other way. This is tough at 62 with a beer belly! Lol

That is a fear of mine ! I don't know where your tank is ? my tank is under the V berth . its easyer to take out the tank for service . My tank needed replacement so I put in a smaller one . Still plenty of water .

First you want to check the temp/thermostat switches. If that's the problem, they are relatively easy to replace.
