New 31 Open owner. Maybe I'm not using the inverter correctly, however, the only way to get the outlets working seems to be if I am on shore power. I imagined the inverter would allow me to use outlets off the batteries. Is the system designed to supply the outlets off the batteries and if so, how is it set-up? Any thoughtful advise is appreciated. Bill
Not sure what year you have, but my 98 31 open is set up as you noted. The cockpit and 120 v outlests below are circuited to the Shore power panel (left side shore power 1), and thus only work with shore power plugged in and powered up.
Seems a little off since you might want to use 120 v power for some things at sea, but may have been a design precausion in the old days (when those ended i dont know? LOL) to protect alternater or batteries?
Curious if anyone has changed the set up to use the inverter off the House batteries, and what that does to their charge? I know that inverters do really draw down batteries to conver to higher voltage change.
