Tiara used a diesel 5kw Westerbeke generator mounted aft between the engines. It is tight, but it will fit. My suggestion is to call around to marine electrical companies that specialize in Generator installs. I may have a photo of a diesel generator factory install if you want to see what it looks like. Send me an e-mail and I'll try and dig up some photos for you.
When we were looking for a boat last we considered a 31 LE without a gen. I contacted our closest Tiara Dealer (Portland, CT), and they estimated the job at around $12K for a 5KW unit.
They indicated Tiara could supply all the necessary parts for the job based on the hull number, and it would be exactly the same as a factory install.
I also contacted a local marina in Mystic Ct that is a Westerbeke dealer, and they estimated the job at around $10K.
We ultimately ended up buying a 31 LE with a gen, so I can
