Please help me decide between two great Tiaras.  By way of background, I will be using the boat on Lake Erie.  I have 3 little kids - most of the boat will be used for light fishing and joyrides/day trips.  I don't envision staying overnight on the boat much at all  (if ever).  The only chance I have at getting dock at my yacht club is by staying under 30 feet.  If I want a Tiara (which I do) I need to stick with a 29 or smaller.  

1997 2900 Open: 450 hours on 454 Crusaders 300 HP - $50,000

Obviously with the Coronet I am getting a newer boat with less hours; but I am also sacrificing the larger cabin.  

Both boats are located in Virginia.  I have given up on trying to find a Tiara close to me.

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Realize both boats are about 34 feet LOA including the swim platform & bow pulpit. I recently sold my 29 Coronet and purchased a 32 Open which is 37 feet LOA. Most Coronets will lack a generator, A/C & hot water where you can get all of that in the Open. But, then you give up all the seating in the cockpit. It's personal preference. Looking at the two boats, I'd be leaning towards the Open. Save the 30K. It's in great shape and the extra hours should be trivial. Both should have new manifolds already. If not, they need them.

I have a 36 Open. My friend had a 29 Coronet. Both boats are very nice, but I prefer the room on the open. You can always use deck chairs for additional seating.
