Greetings,

Found my wiper not working at commissioning. Checked the switch with a volt meter & seems to be working ok. I'm trying to take off the wiper motor to check the wires there (probably need to replace I'm guessing). I have the wiper arm off & removed the nut, gasket & everything else I could see. The motor doesn't want to come off. I can turn the motor about 1/2" & the splined portion of the shaft will rotate, but not the threaded portion. I tapped it (not too hard) with a rubber mallet but no luck.

Do I just need to use more force? Worried about the windshield! Thanks.

Soak it in PB Blaster or some other antiseize. After it sits use a bigger hammer. Make sure to support the back side of the frame so it doesnt flex.
Dissimilar metals touching each other, especially in a marine environment, will seize up everytime.

There are a few posts over on The Hull Truth about removing one on a Rampage. That person ended up using a cut off wheel and cutting the post sticking out.

I agree with the PB Blaster, but be careful not to cause any damage using force to remove it.

I just replaced my wiper motor and same exact problem...just need some anti-seize and go after it, carefully.

Follow up that after hitting it with lubricant several times, I ended up using a pipe wrench to get it to turn & break free. Once it would spin it came right out.

For a replacement, the AFI 1000 series was physically too small to match the footprint of the original model. I ended up using the AFI 2.5 wiper motor which hit the same screw holes & matched the trim cutout. It's deeper which might only be a problem if the motor is hidden behind some cabinetry. The AFI 1.5 model might work but I couldn't verify the dimensions.

The center window sash on my 38 had excessive surface corrosion and I suspected it to be the reason the wiper wouldn’t work. I was right. Problem came when I ordered a replacement motor. The original was not available. So I bought the AFI 1.5 series that was prescribed as the equivalent. Problem came when I went to close the windshield vent, the wiper motor bottomed out preventing the sash from closing all the way. Long story short, I contacted Marinco marine products and eventually wound up buying an AFI 3000 sealed wiper motor. It also bottomed out and I couldn’t close the window. Then I got the bright idea to just mount the motor up side down. It comes with an 80 degree sweep and a right hand perk position. Both are adjustable but it worked perfectly right out if the box.
