water underneath port engine compartment
#1
noticed about 3 inches of water (crystal clear, no smell) underneath the port engine, not going into the bildge though? i did have a problem about 2 weeks ago, when i turned on the fresh water pump under the stairs it would not fill up or pressurize, i went down in engine room and saw it was leaking out of the 15mm pex tubing , we pushed the tubing back into the sharkbite connecter , turned the raw water pump back on and everything worked perfect, no leak, and that was on the starboard side also, have checked 3 or 4 times at the spot that was leaking and no leak, however now i noticed the water build up underneath the port engine, any idea where this water could be coming from? the only thing we used this weekend really was the air conditioner, it was very humid and we ran it almost non stop? never used the sink or toilet, i also had the fresh water pump switch off pretty much the entire weekend? we did use the raw water washdown quite a bit??? i cant figure out what it could be, or where the water is coming from, i have noticed the switch that gives you a readout on freshwater/waste has gone down, just cant figure it out, could my holding tank have a leak, and if it did have a leak would the water leak under the port engine? appreciate the help, please advise.

Pretty sure the engine beds for the 42 are bullheaded to not allow fluids in or out. The purpose being to contain and oil or fuel under the engines. If so your water source is limited to whatever means of access are available. Certainly if your FW system was leaking and making its way under the engines could explain it. Leaking shaft seals can also accumulate. Doubt if your AC condensate drains into that space.

thanks jclark, i have a question, if it was leaking shaft seals would the water be crystal clear , the water looked crystal clear , had no taste or smell either, looked like it just came out of the faucet, lol, thank you

You are in fresh water so yes it would be clear. Put a couple of blue paper towels (shop towels) under the shaft seal. If they are leaking you will see a spray pattern after running a bit.

Where does your vented loop for generator empty out? Are your aftercoolers or other raw water circuits leaking? I had this problem due to leaking raw water around aftercooler, in raw water circuit.

verify your cockpit drains, i had one that was clogged and it would overflow through the channels dropping water right below one engine.
