Had the survey done and we are moving ahead with the purchase. It has a few issues that the price was adjusted for and we are looking forward to this new adventure. Will be boating up on the Great lakes and coming home on the Erie Canal/Hudson River/Long Island Sound/ Peconic Bay at the end of the summer. Unless we decide to stay up there longer!

We're at the Ashtabula Yacht Club in Ashtabula on Lake Erie. We're a common stop over for boaters making the run for the canal and points further south. Stop by on your way thru. I have an 86 36 Open and my dock neighbor has an 89 36 Convertible.

Thank you very much, I will keep that in mind if we head that way!

We closed on our new to us 2006 36 Open. The boat is up in the Thousand Island area. It is currently -15, with a wind chill of -33! We are told the boat can be launched after the ice breaks in the St. Lawrence River. So we may be able to launch around the beginning of May. We will have some maintenance items taken care of before that and then go up a couple of times a month to get used to her before bringing her down to Long Island at the end of July. Looking forward to using what seems to me to be a very capable and well built vessel.

Well we have now been up north to the boat and it is great. Lots of little things to work out but we love the boat. I have a problem with visibility because of bow rise so I made a 4.5" teak platform to stand on at the helm. My GPS failed but I think it may be because of the antenna battery which I will replace next trip up. Had a cockpit cover made as well as the cockpit seats and bolster recovered.
