Charger/Inverter
#1
On my '02 4100 Open, I thought the box located in the lower cabinet in the galley was a charger only. I understand that it is actually a charger and inverter. I knew there was an inverter swith on the electrical panel, but it never lit up when switched. Is the C Charger, mounted on the bulkhead in the engine compartment, also a battery charger? What am I running when I turn on the charger switch on the AC panel? Thanks

C Charger from Charles Industries is just a battery charger. You can go to their website and find the unit you have to determine what is what. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

The inverter was an option on the 42 Tiara and not Standard. If you have an inverter, there should be an inverter panel with an LED screen and various soft keys to operate and monitor the inverter. It should be located in the Main Cabin Electrical Panel. The Inverter Panel should be something like 3"x4". If you do not have this panel, you do not have a factory "Optional" Inverter/Charger. Now, if you are not the original owner of the vessel, then who knows what a Previous Owner had installed.

I do not remember precisely, but some Tiaras came with two Battery Chargers. One for the House Batteries and one for the Engine Bank. I can't recall if the 42 was set up this way. Some Tiaras only have one charger and in most cases, this charger only charges the House Bank. The engine bank is charged when the engines are running only.

Posting pictures will get you more precise answers.
