Cockpit Table
#1
I have a 2000 Express 40. One of my cockpit tables will not come up. When I push the switch I get a humming noise but the table will not come up. When this was only happening sometimes it would always go down fine.
 Any ideas.

I'm assuming the 40 has hydraulically actuated tables. If so Guessing It could be either the valve (attached to the hydraulic pump), the lovejoy connector on the jack screw shaft or something jamming the mechanism. i would start by trying to locate the humming noise. If it's coming from hydraulic power unit I would be looking at valve. You can try swapping up and down valves to see if the problem reverses. If coming from under table then it's somewhere in the jack screw or lovejoy that connects the shaft to motor. If you can lift table while someone is hitting up button you may get it in the up position to get access to mechanism. If not there may be an inspection hatch under the insulation. Good luck.

Good info. Thank you. It is coming from under the table so I will try to get table up one more time and check out your suggestions.

Any luck with the repair?  I am looking at a purchase of a 40 Express with a similar issue and curious if you were able to resolve the issue.

Dave, when you worked on your table did you locate a parts supplier? I'm looking for the connector between shaft/screw and the motor. Thanks, Denny '97 4000 Express

There's been some other posts about these tables one with a schematic of the mechanism. Search for 4000 express hydraulic tables. I also have same issue I had someone push switch got it partially up but not enough to work on. Another project for another day!

Steve, our boat came from st.pete, 94 with cummins 6cta 8.3

I have a 2000 Express. I got the connector from Tiara. Still have problems with my port table. Does not come up sometimes. I have to Keep hitting the switch an it will eventually come up.

One of my tables wouldn't come up either.  I was able to get underneath the table and remove the screws that held the table to the framework.  The bronze nut was loose in the scissors frame and jamming at the end of the stroke.  I tightened the nut, cleaned and dry lubed the screw.  I think this is something that will need to be done on at least an annual basis.
