Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a 2000 Tiara 3500 Express with twin 8.3L Cummins and ZF 302 Transmissions. With that being said, we ran over a log causing the port PSS Seal to leak due to a fracture in the carbon. We have all the parts ready to go on, but we are in trouble working to get the driveshaft removed in order to replace the part. Mechanic has tried 10,000 LB of pressure along with heating it but still no budge. Are we missing a bolt or anything? Does anyone have any recommendations or a step by step removal for the ZF 302 v-driveshaft? Anything will help!
You have to remove the coupler nut and washer and then mount a puller on the coupler which drives the shaft out of the coupler same taper setup as a prop. It takes alot of pressure the puller plate needs to be 5/8 or thicker steel to not bend! Then apply heat to the coupler with Mapp gas it will need to get very hot and melt the paint off usually.
