I have an older 31'
Open and am looking to replace the cabin carpet with teak holly, or something equivalent, but have been unable to locate anyone in Western Michigan to do that type of work. Therefore, I am interested in suggestions of what others have done for flooring.

I have a 2003 31 open which came with the teak & holly. It has held up fairly well over the years and I would probably do it again. I would recommend at least looking into some of the synthetic teak that seems so popular for cockpit decking these days. Maybe you can find someone in your area that does that. Although you should be able to find a carpenter tha my be willing to do the teak and holy plywood.
I can’t recommend Amtico highly enough. It’s a luxury vinyl flooring but comes in individual strips so lays like hardwood. It’s also textured which even makes it feel real. They have a few different colors to choose from for both the teak and holly strips. When I did our last boat I went with a traditional teak color and what they called “Birch” for the holly.
I did the work myself and it ended-up costing me about $2k to do the cabin on a 35’ boat. Only initial piece of advice I’d give is to use their glue. If you end-up wanting to explore this route, happy to walk you through some other tips.
My 31' Open has the original carpet that I would like to replace with wood or vinyl. Any thoughts on best way to remove 28 year old carpetting?
Thanks in advance!
My 31 is a 1992 and the carpet came up quite easily... 15 or 20 minutes and it was out. I removed the steps down into the cabin and just pulled it up. Much easier than I anticipated.
