I am the new owner of a 1995 33 Open. Single fuel tank.... Gas

The fuel gauge is reading empty and I cannot get a full view of the gauge on the tank. (stern side of the tank).

I do see 2 wires coming off of this gauge not connected to anything. No loose wires in sight.

I do see wires going to something on the front of the tank. (wire color matches wires on gauge).

Is there another sending unit on this tank?
Do I need to just run new wires to the sending unit on the stern end?

Any info on this would be appreciated.
