I have a 2001 3800 and broke the contacts on the back of the courtesy lights on the salon step faces also. They are Cantalupi (Italian) Rondetto lights. No longer made. A reoccurring problem with my boat; obsolete parts that are unavailable. I repaired them as follows:
1. Remove fixture and bulb.
2. Remove bulb holding clips. (Metal bulb holders that had tabs sticking out the rear of fixture.
3. Drill small hole (just large enough to fit 16-18 ga wire through) in retaining clip slots.
4. Feed short length of wire through hole.
5. Solder wires to clips.
6. Pull wires back and re-seat clips in fixture.
7. Solder connector to wires.
8. Re-install fixture to step face.
9. Plug connector in #7 above to receptacle that originally connected to broken tabs on back of light.
Simple fix. Took me about 10 minutes per light to do.
