m.t.bentz,
Did you figure out the slow cranking issue? I had a bunch of my C-12 powered 42 rewired this winter as we added an inverter to be able to run the galley refrigeration without the genset. When he was finished and had everything hooked up correctly, he noticed that we were light on voltage on the starboard side (which did always seem to start harder). When he dug into it, he found an odd-ball fused terminal behind the switch panel under the stairs. One of them was blown. He replaced it with something more common. As long as he was doing the work, he looked at both starters. 2 of the brushes on the stbd side were hung up, which may be what caused the fuse to blow. We replaced both starters with newer reduction style and all working well. Pic of fuse terminal attached...(hopefully)
