I had all kinds of critters jumping on my boat. To solve the problem I installed mooring whips and rat guards. I made the rat guards from 5 gallon plastic pail covers with plastic mushroom thru hull fittings in the center sized to fit my dock lines. These were held in place with s/s hose clamps on the line on either side of the mushroom fitting. They spin on the line and have repelled all boarders for 3 years now. I installed one on each dock line and one on the power cord. Considering all the possible entry points this looked like a better way to go. I still have not managed to stop the fly in and dump guys.
