The manual for the 2005 Tiara 2900 that I just bought says that there are two knobs on either side of the helm alongside the engine gauges which when pulled or unscrewed will allow the helm to swing back exposing the instrument fittings etc. No such knobs exist. A search of this site seems to indicate that one reaches back to the front part of the helm and pulls up on the lip. I tried that but without a lot of pressure because I did not want to break something. Appreciate anyones thoughts on this.

I see that you have managed to free the helm console but, if I may add, clean both male and female helm connectors and use a silicone lubricant before returning the helm to its normal position. This makes it a whole lot easier to pull aft the next time you need to gain access.
