Here't the GG Schmitt number I got from Tiara. I called during Covid and got a recording. So I ordered on their website and all went very well.

My part number was 97002C-2 for my Tiara 3600 Open (2007 vintage).

97002C-2 looks like exact same size as mine on my '88 3300 Open but the screw holes look a little off.  Maybe I'll just try the gasket set?

So...GG Schmidt does not sell any of the older style portlights or gasket kits. (Pre 2001) They said the new style won't fit the old style. My question is, has anyone tried replacing the pre-2001 portlight with one of the newer styles? The dimensions look the same but the screws are in different positions and not sure if the hull thickness changed. Curious...

Yes, I replaced 2001 portlights with brand new ones. The screw holes are not in exactly the same place but that is not an issue as the frames fit the boat the same. The gaskets are not backwards compatible as they said. The new design compresses the gasket much more.

The other thing is that the 'shades' that Tiara supplied with the boat don't fit the new windows very well without modification.

I know I'm late here, but figured the following would be useful for someone, at some point.

2001 3800

I decided to replace all 6 portlights.

-Remove interior screws.  Some are difficult to access and a 90 degree screwdriver can come in handy.
-Remove the interior half of the clamshell.  I found the best way was to open the window and grab it with two hands and pull/rock it back and forth to break the sealant (Tiara used silicone) bond.
-This will expose the bent over tabs screwed to the interior of the boat that holds on the external frame/clamshell.  The tabs are underneath the vinyl liner and they were likely installed before the vinyl was.  You will have to stretch the vinyl to get to all the screws but it isn't too bad.  Once the screws are out, bend the tabs so they clear the hole.
-Getting the frame out was tough.  I used a heat gun to soften the adhesive a bit and carefully used shims around the outside lip to pull the frame away from the boat.  The danger here is damaging the gel coat.

I removed all the exposed balsa in the window cutout with a chisel and backfilled with thickened epoxy.  Fortunately it was all dry.

To put the new windows in was straightforward with the exception of getting the external frame in.  I ended up using a bunch of small trigger clamps to get the external frame to completely seat in the opening.

Do the ones for your 2001 and my built in 2001 (2002 model) have a GG Schmidt part number? When I ordered some new gaskets they sent the wrong ones. I called them and they said that what they sent was for a newer model and that I needed the ones for the older model...which did fit.

Tiara only sealed the coring with caulking. After 20 years it's time for all the caulking to be replaced. Only way to do that is to remove the portlights.

Once you do that it only makes sense to seal the coring--for good this time--with penetrating epoxy.

Then, after all that trouble, it only makes sense to replace all the portlights with the new improved design.

I heard the old gaskets were no longer available although not sure if that's correct. Would not have changed the way I way I addressed it though.

Some info for those who need to repair a leaky portlight.  My wood was pretty bad, picked out what I could and let it air dry.  Drilled out screws holes larger to get liquid epoxy to penetrate well.  Went with Abatron Liquid Wood & Wood Epoxy.  Put on liquid, put on putty, let it dry well.  Sanded excess.  Pre-drilled screw holes and all of them bit hard!  Use life seal on outer plate and where the two meet, so far so good. Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be...

Hey guys, i am in the process of replacing all 6 of my port hatches on my 41 open. Curious if you guys had to trim down the new outer trim rings depending on the required depth?

I did not have to trim them on my 3800.
