I'm considering a Tiara for my next boat but I'm seeing that there have been some wet hull issues. I've looked for other discussions but haven't yet determined if this is restricted to certain years/models. Any help is appreciated.

Hi - What "Wet" hull issue are you referring to? Is there a known Tiara coring issue? The only issue I've known about is on 99.9% of fiberglass boats where there could be water leaking through the fiberglass at the mounting holes for deck gear or add on accessories where drilling through the deck or hull are required.

Older Model Tiara's that had aftermarket Anchor roller and Windlass installed are common wet coring issues. Also hull portholes are another area of concern. Not uncommon with later model hulls are wet coring below the air boxes. As much as believe Tiara makes great boats, they are not perfect. Do not buy one without a Survey.

I looked at 3 before I bought the one I have now. On the other 2 the "Wetness" issues where in the stern. And both had very old scuppers that should have been replaced because of dried out sealer and small cracks. Also on one the seal around the transom door obviously needed attention. Most of the rest of the boat was dry with the exceptions of some rebedding that needed to be done around the port holes. On all three boats the deck, and main hull (With the exception of the transoms) were all in good shape. All three boats were 17-20 years old.

I purchased an 86 36' Open this past spring. Most everything was dry. Surveyor suggested rebedding the port lights and hinges on the fishwell. For an old boat, she's in exceptional shape....

On a 1999 31 is the entire hull cored or just above the waterline??

Contact Tiara, they will tell you. They had a system for the stringers I think where the stingers were cored but the coring was just to act as a form for the fiberglass. Just email or call them, they will tell you.
