Hi All, 

First post to this group, I'm an aspiring Tiara owner, presently looking at 3300 Opens in the 1990's era. Couple of questions:

Were there any big/noticeable below-the-waterline changes during the 1990's?

Any issues I should be on the lookout for as I look at boats from this era?

I really like the cabin layout with the small galley and dinette to port, and head and couch/bunks to starboard. Are those bunks usable for an adult? How about kids under 10? 

General comments on this being a weekender for a family of 4?

I believe sometime around 1992 Tiara changed the deadrise from 14 to 18 degrees in multiple models including the 3300. I know that in the 3100 they also added prop pockets around the same time, not sure about the 3300.

Sounds like you looking at a Plan B layout. As far as the bunk bed. I'm not sure how an adult would get up in there. A 10 year old would fit, but I always worried my kid would roll out.

Exactly what I was wondering - how do you get up there, and how do you stay in there? I have two boys - 8 and 5 - and figure they, at least, would fit (for a few years), but think I'd also have to by a parachute for whomever takes the top bunk!

We mostly use ours for extra storage when we put it up. I did think if I got a large pool noodle and put it up there on the edge, it might create a small enough hump that a kid wouldn't roll out.

I have an older 36 Open with the A plan layout. We stay onboard with a kid and dog with no issues. I could fit another kid on board and probably will be once my son hits his teen's.

I have a 1988 3300 and have had full size men (6 ft - 180 lbs) sleep on the Pullman "bunk bed" once or twice a year. No complaint from the top. I think it is actually harder to get into the bottom bunk and the distance to the bottom of the top bunk is fairly close. To get up on the top just step on the bottom bunk. The hanging straps that hold up the top bunk keep an adult from rolling out. Have had the boat since 2002 and love it. Good luck in your purchase.
