BAD GENERATOR EXHAUST HOSE ALREADY ???
#1
My 2006 Tiara 42 Open needs a new generator exhaust hose already. It has less than 100 hours on the generator. It has not been over heated and we live in a cooler climate.( no serious heat exposure) The hose has become very porous, leaking everywhere it is exposed in the engine room.
Has anyone experienced a failure of the original hose?
The manufacturer claims the hose should last 5-10 yeaars. Tiara says there hasn't been any other complaints regarding this premature failure.
Comments please!

Mine is doing the same on a 03 42 open , more so i would like to know how you will remove the old hose, and install the new.. it's clamped all the way through in unreachable places.
Thanks

Look at your other hoses very carefully. There were some bad hoses installed on boats this vintage. I have replaced all waste hoses, intake hoses and some exhaust hoses on my new to me 2006 Tiara and did the same on two previous Searays. I bought a two year old 2006 44 Searay with 136 hours back in the day and the generator intake hose started leaking during the survey. Talk about an example of the need for survey even on new boats!

My 2006 36 Open also has the same problem. Also low hours on the generator and Northern climate. Looks to be a very difficult task that I haven't taken on yet. It seems to go forward, up to the bulkhead on Starboard side and buried under wiring harnesses for a while before re-appearing. Somewhere back there it turns 90 degrees toward the transom (maybe an elbow? looks too tight for a bend). Not easy to say the least. It would be nice to know how much hose to buy, I am estimating about 35ft. If you did the job, let me know any tips you may have found.
