38 - 43' Tiara Open Comparision
#1
All:

We've began our search for a Tiara Open and have been comparing the models (not easy) beyond the usual factors...length, year, and price. Looking for words of wisdom from any current owners to pass on to us...very few on the west coast.

I personally do not like the reverse slope transom. So I would rule those two out.

Hardtop is a big plus and bigger is always better, so I'd go with the 4300 Open, 2009 thru current.

I own a 2003 38 Open and am more than pleased with the performance. Have owned the boat since 2007 and have traveled extensively over the years. Most trips have been at least 3 weeks going north to Canada, South to the Chesapeake, and east to Newport, Boston, Gloucester, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Hardtop is a must and running @ 2200 (24.5 knots) burning 28 GPH. Does everything we asked and we have been boating, with various boats, over 60 years... M2C

I'm in the Seattle area and have a 2006 Tiara 3200 Open which we purchased two years ago. My wife and I are loving it. We use it for salmon fishing, crabbing, shrimping and extensive cruising in the Puget Sound and BC. Sounds like my boat is smaller than you are looking for, but let me know if you have any specific questions.

I have a 2000 41 Open and love the boat. It rides really great offshore in all seas. Very comfortable while cruising with plenty of space on the helm deck for people to socialize both underway and at anchor. The admiral likes the wide captain seat so she can sit with me while we are running. There is alot of top side storage for life preservers and things. The L shaped lounge holds a ton of stuff and has 3 access doors while the longer captains chair has enough space underneath to carry my 6 person life raft.

Down below is very spacious with the galley way over to starboard. Sleeping 4 is comfortable and not to intrusive due to the 2 doors into the head. Also this boat has a ton of storage space. I just bought a Tiara 50 open (they only made 7 of those) and while unloading my 41 I was amazed at how much storage (crap) we had on it. I am actually having trouble figuring out where to put most of it on the new 50 as it doesn't seem to have as much room.

Tiara made some of the 41's with a lighter wood interior that really brightens it up below. It also has 3 hatches that allow even more light in.

I really like my 41 and had it set up perfectly. The admiral drove the purchase of the new boat. I drug my feet and even pushed back a bit, but we all knows who wins those discussions. I know it is a hike to FL but mine is in immaculent condition and for sale.
