Anodes on transom of boat 2 sizes?
#1
Has anyone noticed or know why on the transom of the boat the two pairs of bolts for mounting the anodes are different sizes?  There is one that has 5 inch spacing (Center bolt to center bolt )  and the other has 5 1/2 inch spacing ( center bolt to center bolt ). I was able to order the  "Bar" shaped Martyr brand  magnesium  in the 5 1/2  inch size but had to go to a different  "Oval"  style to get the magnesium in the 5 inch spacing . Martyr brand did not have a "Bar" shaped 5 inch spacing  that I could find .  We have a 2009 Sovran , not sure if it is unique to this year Tiara . We are using Magnesium as we are in Fresh water only .

Looks like someone added another set themselves. Look on the inside of hull and compare the connections.

I am the OP and received information from Tiara, apparently the anodes were originally Zinc and were oval (4) in shape but most critically they were installed VERTICALLY as opposed to mine that are installed Horizontally . This explains the two sizes that were needed when installing Horizontally . I can't get to the boat till the weekend to confirm this but this makes perfect sense.

If thats a Sovran, I was told that the oval ones are zinc for the boats bonding system and that the rectangles are aluminum and bonded to your pods.

Thanks for the Input, I replaced them  ALL with Magnesium as we are now in fresh water  ( Great Lakes ) .  The boat came form Ocean water From North Carolina . You don't think my choice of Magnesium  will hurt anything do ya ?
