Thanks Chris - and thanks for all the advice and research you provided during our hunt. You are a huge asset to this Forum.
The more I looked at Tiara's, the more I liked them. But, my wife was used to the ride of a 45' , 50,000 pounds and 9 knot boat. This 35' is a 23,000 pounds and 25 knots boat and the ride is harder on her back if the waves kick up, so we really do need a 40' or 41' if we want to run in 4' to 5' seas.

Comfort in large seas is certainly a factor of weight, speed, hull design and length to beam ratio. Unfortunately every thing is a compromise when it comes to boats. The best riding hull in heavy seas would be heavy, narrow, tender and would have poor steering due to the narrow deep V or rounded hull bottom. The most spacious design would be wide and flat bottomed. The trick is combining the two into a compromise that meets an owners needs.

The 35 Express is actually a good running vessel in moderate sea-conditions. If you are running into a chop, just trim the nose down and bring the speed back to where it is somewhat comfortable while still making headway. It does however have a wide beam, so anything over a 4' chop is not going to be perfectly comfortable. The largest seas I remember running in a 35 where about 6 - 7' off of Nassau. I want to say we were running at about 13 - 15 knots. Still rough, but we kept from beating the boat and the passengers too badly.

Hi rick , sorry to hear the 35 is not enough boat for you . Good luck with the sale . Currently posted my 40 on ebay , lots of lookers ? Probably a tough time of year for selling in the north east ? Not sure ebay is the best venue, but who knows ?
