2000 Tiara 3800 Open for sale

Hi everyone,

I am selling my 2000 Tiara 3800 Open. Boat is located in Holland, MI, currently in heated storage for the winter. I have a 2022 survey on file. 

Needs port Cummins engine as the previous port engine apparently overheated and I am being told by the local Cummins dealer that a remanufactured engine would be cheaper than a rebuild. ZF transmissions are in good shape. 2 AC units that blow cold. Brand new holding tank and hoses. Starboard Cummins 6CTA8.3 is in good shape, 7XX original hours. Cummins generator runs great. No known structural issues. Custom hardtop enclosure new as of 2023. Brand new Acme props last season. All systems otherwise run great.

Sorry to hear your troubles with the port engine. Going to be hard to get a good offer on a boat that can't be sea trialed. Prudent buyer will have to assume the starboard engine (and both transmissions) need a lot of work if not rebuilds too if it can't be tested under load (sea trialed). I think you'd be better off fixing the port motor and selling. Otherwise, you're going to have a take a *huge* hit on the price. Either way, you should list an asking price, something that is going to get somebody's attention.

Currently sourcing a new remanufactured engine directly from Cummins. Price will reflect the new engine cost if I do that myself otherwise open to any offers right now. Remainder of heated storage is paid for as is the slip for the summer if wanted.

Update: currently having the engine rebuilt. If anyone is interested now I'm happy to hear out any offers. Otherwise I'll be keeping the boat for at least this season when it is re-installed in 4 weeks or so.

Who did your hardtop? I have a 02 3800 with a soft top and was considering adding a hardtop. Yours looks great.

New price - $165,000

Boat is still for sale. Heated winter storage in Holland, MI is paid for. Highfield dinghy w/ Suzuki 9.9 and Hurley davits negotiable.

Port engine needs work. Was rebuilt spring of 2025 and now needing additional work to run but under transferable warranty by reman shop in Michigan. Stbd engine and generator run great. I have a young son and am not interested in spending further time working on this boat and am looking at getting into an outboard powered smaller express style boat.

Updates since 2023 include:
