Anyone have any experience with fuel polishing?  Probably have a little less than gallon of freshwater (don't ask why) in my port side tank (about 100 gallons of gas remaining).  Just want to make sure I get all of it out before it makes its way into the pickups.  I know it is fairly successful with diesel but not sure about gas.  Other option is just having someone drain the port tank.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I have had the fuel in both tanks polished. It is an easy process if you can find someone that does it.

I think the problem is going to be to find someone that polishes gasoline. Diesel, not a problem, lots of companies. Gasoline has a low flash point and is dangerous to pump through polishers. Not saying no body does it but from what I have found many do not.

Thanks all; yeah, not sure if they could polish gas.  Just going to have it pumped dry - looks like 80 gallons or so.  Price is going to be around $500 (plus refill lol).

I suggest you have the boat on a travel lift and tip and tilt it so that one corner of the tank is the low point. That way you are sure to get most of the contaminants.
Also check that your vent hose goes up from the vent before making a "U" turn down to the tank. That is usually the source of water in the fuel tank.

Thanks Cpt. G.  Fortunately and unfortunately I know the source of the water and pretty much the exact amount that got in; sad to admit it but was distracted and splashed some freshwater in the fuel deck fitting instead of the waste fitting - not my proudest moment.  It was only about a 1000 cc's, if that.  The good part is I know its there and have not run the port engine so just going to drain it and start fresh.

As a final update: had the fuel polished.  Lost about 8 gallons after about an hour of polishing.  Very professional outfit; tested the fuel in the tank with water paste then polished out the tank and showed me the differences in the water.  Would use them again, saved me a lot of $$: Fuel Solutions of NY.  Worked well with my marina and had all the appropriate insurance.
