Just purchased 2002 38 open (new owners). Freshwater pump #1 switch kept tripping and there was no pressure out of galley sink. Bought new flo-jet pump and installed however it fails to prime. Think this was the origination of the the pump burnout before we purchased the boat. Any suggestions on why its not priming?

Also, with only pump #2 running and no open faucets shouldn't their be ample pressure from galley sink..?

In many cases, the pumps are mounted above the tank level. If that is the case, you may have to use a hose to prime. The easiest thing to do is fill the tank (pumps off and at least one faucet open), then while the water is running out of the deck fitting, cup your hands around it and pressurize for a bit. It should push the water up the lines and into the tank. Don't get creative and over-pressurize, that could blow a line off or break a plastic fitting.

I forgot one thing. Your fresh water has a vent line that goes overboard. It is usually just below or near the on deck water fill fitting down on the hull side. If this vent gets clogged (bugs, debris), it will keep the pumps from being able to pump against the suction created by the clogged vent. You must clear this vent. Sometimes you use a hose to blast the vent from the outside. If this doesn't work, you'll have to find out where that vent line hose is attached to the fitting on the inside, remove the hose and figure out how to clear the blockage.

Give the factory a call, they can tell you how your boat was plumbed.  On our boat, a 2005, pump 2 operates a solenoid valve to fill the fresh water tank when we are hooked up to dock water so you do not have to run a hose to the fill plate on the deck.  I have seen Tiaras set up different ways, call or email the factory, they are very helpful.  Best of luck with your new boat!

I have a 37 Open with same design. First did you clean othe strainer on the pump? Mine looks clean from the top/outside but can be nasty inside.  

Second turn on one or both pumps and then turn on the head sink and let run a couple minutes. Mine gets an airlock and need to let the pumps prime and force air through.  Might need to turn on galley sink as well.  

Also remove the strainers from the faucets themselves and make sure are clear.

When you hookup the fresh water supply directly to the boat. The switches should be off. It bypasses the tank and goes directly to fresh water system. My problem is that I need to find the quick connect fitting for the fresh water intake. Any idea where I can find it? My Tiara is a 2001 38 open.

I use quick disconnects made by Melnor (plastic)..... Purchased at Home Depot or Lowes.....
