My first serious boat and after 2 years of research, I purchased the 2007 3900 Sovran one year ago. I love the boat as do friends and family alike. I would like to hear from other Volvo IPS owners especially in regard to lower unit maintenance and problems to avoid.

I have an 08 3900 that we bought last season. Its been a great boat so far. As far as engine/drive maintenance just be sure to change the fluid/anodes annually and make sure the "ring" around the drive on the inside is kept free of debris and lubricated. I was planning on doing this myself this year (I did my own impellers etc) however I was having a hard time finding the correct tool to remove the plug on the back of the drive and ran out of time. Hopefully next year... If you haven't found it already you may want to check out the volvo penta ips forum as well. It was helpful to me.
Were all of the warranty service items taken care of on you motors (sea strainers, software upgrades, belts/pulley's etc)?
If you have any questions with regard to anything on the boat feel free to reach out to me. We cruised this boat extensively last year and learned a lot about the boat along the way (some of it the hard way).
