Hello, I just joined the club. I recently sold my Meridian 411 and am now looking for a Tiara in the 33-38 foot range. I appreciate the opportunity to connect with other members in the club and look forward to meeting you on line. Cheers, Frank and Wendy Berke, Sidney, British Columbia, Canada.
Welcome to the forum, I'm sorry this is so late compared to your post! Life seems to get in the way sometimes. I own a 3800 Open and absolutely love her. When we were looking for a Tiara, we were coming from a SeaRay 330 Sundancer, which we lost to Harvey. I knew I wanted a better built boat and Tiara was on my list and they never disappointed, even if some of the ones I looked at did, only because the owner didn't take care of them.
Originally, I was looking at 33's and 35's. I really liked the 3500 Open. Beautiful lines, good quality and B series Cummins. After looking at a couple, I realized for only a little more money would put me in a 3800, which was larger, and came with C series Cummins. The rest is history as they say!
I very often run her by myself. She is easy to handle, departing, docking and overall driving. She has plenty of power and I love th extra room over all of the boat, over the boat. I take her offshore fishing (85 miles is the farthest so far) and do a LOT of cruising in her. She is well suited for both and my wife and I enjoy her for small get aways.
I would happily answer any questions you may have, just ask away!
Thanks for reaching out to me. Your timing is impeccable as I am trying to make a decision if I should purchase this 2000 Tiara 3700 Open. I just had full surveys done (Caterpillar 3802 Engines - 1700 hours) and both mechanical and boat survey came back excellent. The boat is in pristine condition and comes with "Rigid Tender on electric davit system with 50HP Honda. I can buy this boat for around $138K U.S. dollars. My hesitation is that I have always had fly bridge boats. Just sold a Meridian 411. After taking this Tiara on a sea trial I found two things that are very different from the fly bridge. Visibility forward and the engine noise. Is that something one can get used to?? I love the overall look and condition of the boat but just don't know if the noise and forward visibility is a deal breaker. I would love your thoughts about this? Thanks very much, Best Regards, Frank Berke - Sidney, BC
I think the visibility is something you'll get used to, although you'll have a new appreciation for the view you had previously.
The engine noise is annoying on a boat like this, no doubt. But at 25 years old, it is worth checking the condition of the seals around the deck and day hatches. I replaced mine and was amazed at the difference it made in sound level. It is still loud, but far less so. It was an easy project that took an hour or two and cost about $100.
