My 2007 Open has spots on the TaylorMade tempered glass, perhaps from rain, perhaps from washing; just not sure of the source. Any recommendations on how to clean these windows?

These spots are heavy enough to make the windows a bit cloudy, harder to see through than they should be. Recently installed new canvas and the new clear side curtains accentuated the lack of clarity in my tempered windows.

I have tried, spot tested, lime removal products, but they made no change.

Suggestions and comments welcomed.

Prism Polish worked wonders on my 2005 Tiara, it took the water spots off no problem.

I had the same issue on my 38 Open. Went to a windows/glass/mirror business and purchased a cleaner that is used to clean bathroom glass enclosures...... Really worked well... Windshield looks like new. No more spots that I couldn't clean........ Think it's the same stuff Auto stores have that is used to clean/clear plastic headlamp covers. M2C.....

Tried the Prism cleaner, and while it helped, it was only marginal. After four applications it had removed perhaps half the spots. I suspect had I been using it regularly, this issue would have been avoided. One side benefit, in applying Prism to the windows, I accidentally got it on the black wiper arms, and boy it made them look like new! I applied Prism to all the wiper arms, metal blade holders and pivot arms, and Prism removed the white chalky surface and restored a nice semi-gloss look to all. They look great.

Now if M2C will do the same for my windows, trying that next.

My experience (see my earlier post) is it took significant effort and repeated applications (what I purchased from the glass/bathroom enclosure business) to address and completely remove ALL water spots (its calcium I think).... Lots of elbow action, i.e. "wax on/wax off". BTW the business owner stated it would require lots of elbow action and repeated applications if really bad...... Now I do the windshield glass as part of my yearly maintenance and it seems its clear of what I call water spots......  M2C

I have used NOVUS #2 Light Scratch Remover, Soft Scrub and plain white tooth paste to clean various glass problems. I put it on a buffing pad and use my random orbital sander. If I thin the paste with vinegar it helps to soften the calcium deposits. Capt. George

It depends on what type of minerals are on the glass (hard water spots). It also depends on how long they have been there.

Look for cleaners that are designed to remove hard water deposits. You may have to resort to an acid based cleaner (be very careful and don't get it on metal!).

Aqua tech Water Spot Remover, you use with an electric buffer.  Took all the hard water spots off my 1988 Tiara windshield when nothing else worked.

I think actually it's just a very mildly abrasive compound.
