I recently purchased a '96 Tiara 31 Open. On my maiden voyage to my home port I discovered that several components switched at the helm were not working, electric window, instrument lights, horn and the electric hatch lift. I checked the switches on the DC portion of my panel in the cabin and all were lit except for the switch marked helm #2. Helm switch #1 was lit. I then discovered that there was a 40 amp circuit breaker tripped adjacent to the battery switches under the stairs and marked Helm that would not reset when I pushed it. I believe the problem is in one of the loads that this circuit breaker feeds and that it is one of the console loads or the hatch lift. Before I call a marine electrician I was wondering I anyone has any insight into this? My plan is to contact Tiara for a wiring diagram so that I understand how power is distributed throughout the boat, both AC and DC.

If your issue is the cut out breaker for the house batteries (the ones that sounds like it is tripping) is like the one on my 98 31 Open it's has 2 components, a side lever and pop out pin on the face.  When tripped they both stick out, one out the front the other out the side. To reset they need to be pressed in at the same time. 

i experienced the same problem once and because i couldn't see the side pin (it was on the back side out of sight) it seemed like an issue bigger than it was.

The below is similar, but without the backing box to the one I have.  Once i found the trip lever everything worked fine.. The trip was due to someone putting something in front f the barker and it getting popped manually.

Thanks for the reply. I found the problem to be the pop-up circuit breaker located to the right of the battery switch box. This is the box with the red battery switches under the cabin stairs. The breaker is faulty. I ordered a new breaker and it is manufactured by ETA. It is a aircraft spec breaker which I was impressed with. I have requested the wiring diagrams from Tiara but would appreciate if you could send me yours.
