1994 Tiara 4000 for Sale or Trade
#1
It breaks my heart to offer my Tiara for trade or sale, but health issues make using her more difficult each day. I have peripheral neuoropthy in hands and feet from chemo. The docs thought it would go away, but almost 3 years later, it looks pretty permanent. This causes me to have poor balance and severely restricts my fore deck abilities.

Now for the GOOD part.

1994 Tiara 4000E with 500 hrs on twin 450hp Cummins 6CTA engines and equally low hours on the Onan generator. This boat has ALWAYS been in fresh water (was in salt water for first time last year for 3 days). Lived in Michigan on the lake all it's life until 2014 when I brought her to the St. Johns River in Florida. She lives on our boat lift in our boathouse and ALWAYS maintained professionally with the following work done in the past 12-18 months:

All new canvas and camper canvas
All new 4D AGM batteries
New aluminum fuel tanks
New Balmar regulators
New main cabin air conditioner
ALL fluids changed at 500hrs

Impellers replaced
Zincs replaced
Props scanned and trued
Detailed 2 weeks ago

This is an immaculate and properly maintained boat (yeah everyone says that). I really would prefer to trade rather than sell but......

I am looking to replace her with a smaller boat that has good (non-teak) decks with flat decent walk arounds. The boat must also be a fast trawler at least as there are time I need or at least prefer to move at 20+ knots. A trawler or downeast style would probably be best for me now.

We will not be taking any more long cruises but still want to be able to spend some days/weeks aboard comfortably in a coastal environment.

I believe a trade or sale in the $120k range would be appropriate.

Good luck on your sale, if you recall, I have the twin of your boat.  Looking at your photo's, it looks like you might have a bow thruster installed, if so, I suggest you note that on your add, because that would be a good selling point.

best regards ,

Thanks for the suggestion, but seems people aren't beating down the doors for 25 year old Tiara reardless of options and condition.

I believe pricing guides are arbitrary. I've attached a PDF of ACTUAL sale prices for 3rd quarter 2015. You will see that I have priced our boat very fairly as most sold for 140k or more. Those under 100k are not the same caliber or condition/options of mine doesn't everyone say that Smile

You should sell yours and get mine LOL

Good luck, and thanks for sending the actual sales price list over, interesting information.  I think we're going to stick with ours, here is the list of what we've done in 1.5 years.

1.  Revised and improved canvas.
2.  Sisel sea grass cockpit floor covering.
3.  Serviced and replaced all injector tips.
4.  Replaced all refrigeration units.
5.  Serviced one and replaced on aftercooler.
6.  Rebuilt steering.
7.  Replaced 3 fresh water pumps.
8.  Full rebuilds on both raw water pumps.
9.  Very expensive and professional rebuild of the swim platform which had a low quality repair hiding a damage which caused delamination.

At this point, I think we have most of the bugs worked out and I couldn't start over.  And, I wouldn't recoup those dollars.

A friend of mine just bought a Trojan 4400 express, I wish he'd gone Tiara, I think ultimately he would have been happiers.

Best Regards,

Jim

Jim, the work you had to do on your boat reflects the lower price you paid than I did (by quite a bit). I paid quite a bit more, replaced canvas and batteries and Balmar regulators. NOTHING else is/was required. I did change ALL fluids, filters, impellers and zincs about 6 months ago because it was driving me crazier not resetting everything to my purchase date, so had it done. I am obsessive about my toys lol.

AM,
We are currently on the hunt for a Tiara, and would LOVE that boat,
unfortunately, we are in California.
Beautiful though!
Best,
Michael

Michael - Have you considered getting a quote for shipping the vessel across country?  When we got our 4,000 express, a twin to AM's boat, I also considered a boat which was located in Alameda California.
