In my 1995 2900 Tiara I have a leak in the tank and I need to have the floor cut to get it out. anyone have a good yard that does this type of work here in Ft. Lauderdale. I need the work done right, no hacks!!!
Talk to Devon or Lori at HMY. They are Smart, Fair and can get the work done. 954-926-5021. Tiara respects then professionally and considers them part of our family.

Please let me know how things go. I just purchased a 1995 36' convertible and have discovered a leak in the stbd tank. The tank is stepped and the leak is at a corner on the upper step. I was able to transfer the gas to the port tank and am researching options to remedy the problem. Looks like the best case scenario is if the tank is in otherwise good condition, aluminum plates can be welded over the existing tank (s)... Worst case is new tanks = $4600.00 plus mechanics labor and fiberglass work.

Donedeal, same issue with the purchase and then the leak. ok here's where I'm at now! the work is being done by MarineMax big yacht service yard next door to Derecktors in Ft. Lauderdale. The floor is cut out and the tank is out. The tank had a salt hole in the far starboard corner at the bottom. The tank was made by Skyline in Utah. to have them make the tank it will be $2500 plus $300 for shipping. well that wasn't going to happen so I checked with Florida marine tank. they said that they had made tanks for my boat and they have the plans to make it. Samething $2500 plus shipping of $200. FYI Florida Marine tank has moved to North Carolina. end result, i was able to get specs on my tank and I'm having it made here in Ft. Lauderdale for $2300 and that includes having the tank coated with rubberized coating. regarding your tank, REPLACE IT!!!! do not go through all that work and hope it holds. if you have access and can get the tank out without cutting the deck, just change it. If you have to cut the boat to get the tank out REPLACE THEM BOTH.
OH My ordeal will set me back $8000 - $9000 when all done 1995 Tiara 2900 Crusaders 7.4 MPI 454 Marlin tower all worth the pennies for now.
Well we removed the tanks Saturday and brought them to the fabricator. Turns out that the tanks are in great shape were it not for the 3/8" hairline crack at a weld failure from the original fabricator. There are no signs of corrosion under or inside the tanks. It was my initial inclination to still proceed with fabricating new tanks however, my fabricator talked me out of it. He plans to remove tops and bottoms of current tanks, re weld and pressure test.
