Am a former owner of a 2006 Sovran 44 and now looking at a 2007 & 2008 Sovran 39s with IPS 500.
I looked at the boat itself and it will be perfect for our needs in Florida (Bahamas, cruising, etc) but am new to the IPS and Volvo in general. As the boat has been out for about 10 years I would appreciate any advice (good and bad) about it and performance before I make the deal. I am a solid Tiara fan.
Also need info or recommendations for adding a dink lift to the stern, will be using a 11 foot with motors, about 250 lbs. See Sealift all over and they have a great rep.

Thanks for all of your comments.

Hi Bob. We just purchased a 2007 39 Sovran with IPS 500s, and just installed a Freedom Lift. Handles a 11.5 Capelli RIB with 25 HP Honda, and works beautifully. best of luck!
Excellent, I am concerned about adding weight to the stern and impact on how the boat rides. I'm guessing you have added about 700 pounds to the stern.
Do you reach normal cruise speeds, max RPM etc.
What was done to the IPS systems between new and now, see lots of negativity out there but only way to know is speak to someone who has them.

Some well thought our and appreciate thoughts, I will make sure of the maintenance history before I move forward on any boats. Love Tiaras and hopefully will find the right one with updated pods. Read so much negative maintenance nightmares but also the beauty of docking etc.
