thanks for the link. I'm sort of stuck in the starting gate and am having a tough time "guessing" how to proceed. I'm looking for a good quality hatch that won't leak and has a trim kit for the inside. No screens or shades needed.
I've poked around at the different websites but don't know how to differentiate one from the other---besides pricing. They would not be installed on an oceangoing sailboat but at the same time, I don't want to go cheap and have leaks. When in doubt, go for the middle of the line hatch?
The OEM hatches on the boat have 2 stainless or chrome butt hinges. I was hoping to find something to mate with them so I don't have holes up there with no hardware in them. Do you just put screws back into the holes and call it done?
Or do you buy a hatch with a piano type hinge and then attach the stainless butt hinges just for looks?
I already did. They said they were cut by Total Plastics and fitted by Tiara. They told me "there are no direct replacements" and suggested just replacing the gaskets with something from Clean Seal Inc.. Unfortunately, they look all of their 32 years--inside and out.
