Where can I get new gaskets for the oval portholes on my 2002 38 Open?

I own a 2003 38 Open and a while back I was looking to find the MFG of the port holes as well to purchase the screens. At that time I found G.S. Schmitt & Sons as the supplier to Tiara. They showed the port holes and parts to repair. Not sure if they still are making/suppling parts. Here's the WEB address:

I just called them this morning and they are currently not taking any retail orders.

Tiara just sent me an email saying that the company has agree to sell parts to Tiara. They are working out the details now so it may be a few days.

Are these gaskets easy to change?

Here is an email exchange that took place between me and Tiara over the last couple of days. Looks like we are screwed on this deal.


Email #1 from me: Where can I get some new porthole gaskets for my 2002 3800 Open? Apparently, the reported manufacturer...GG Schmitt Sons... is not taking retail orders.

Email #1 from Tiara: Ron, you are not alone in this one. Darn near every day someone is looking for the screen and gaskets for these porthole’s… GG Schmitt was bought out about a year ago by Patrick industries. Some changes were made and no nobody can order parts, they are only selling to manufacturers.  We are attempting to order a whole bunch of these… but its not going great at the moment. Check back in about 2 weeks and hopefully we will have made progress in getting some of these retired parts. Sorry I cant help you with this today.

Email # 2 from Tiara: What are the chances Ron! Moments after I sent that response I was informed that we will be able to order parts from GG Schmitt… I have requested pricing and lead time. How many do you need?

Email # 3 from Tiara: The screen kit P# 6550342 - $144.56 ea + tax & s/h

Email #2 from me: All I need is a simple rubber gasket. Don't want a screen. If they won't sell just a gasket, I have to figure something else out.

Email # 4 From Tiara: Sorry Ron, it only comes in a kit that includes the screen, gasket, and adhesive / caulk.

Looks like a messed up deal to me.

Yesterday I brazenly walked into the reception area of the GG Schmitt & Sons headquarters in Sarasota Florida, which as it turned out, is 10 miles from where I keep my boat.

I told the nice lady about my problem and she replied that their retail department was closed. I replied that I knew that but asked what was I supposed to do when they are the only one's in the world that have the gaskets?

She called a couple of young execs to the reception area and I explained the recent deal with Tiara and that I really didn't need a kit costing $144.00. All I needed was a gasket. The said "Huuummm" and then asked what size I needed since they had made two sizes of port lights?

I said that I would go to the boat and measure and send them the info. But, the problem is that I had no way to measure the actual length of the gasket itself. I think that they need this to be able to cut a piece that will fit. All I could provide was the H x W of the outside of the frame (8.5 x 19.25) and the outside H x W of the gasket inside the frame (7.5 x 17).

They also wanted to know how many I wanted? I said to please give the my the price each and I would decide the number.

I emailed this info to them yesterday and they said that they would have someone in engineering get back to me.

Why not just buy the kit and cut the screen out of the gasket?

Why not just take a string and trace the gasket and then measure it?

And I would just buy the whole kit, you'll probably need it anyways.

I bought a kit for their older model before Covid hit, the gasket and screen were separate. But I just kept the screen and ended up needing it on another portlight this year due to an unfortunate accident while waxing it
